A fire Monday night at Brockbank Junior High, 2935 S. 8560 West, was spotted by a custodian and doused by firefighters before it caused much damage.
The fire started in the school's wood shop in a small pile of wood near an electrical outlet. The custodian called the fire department at 10:35 p.m. "We think that maybe an electrical wire caused it, but it's still under investigation," said Salt Lake County Fire Lt. Jack Gallup.Damage to the building and contents was estimated at $350, but the fire sent a considerable amount of smoke through the building.
The blaze was put out quickly, Gallup said. "The biggest thing was just getting the smoke out."
