Cache-Rich Tourist Council members are launching a campaign to promote the northernmost area of Utah as the "Snowmobile Capital of the Intermountain West."
Douglas Thompson, executive director of the Cache Chamber of Commerce, which runs the tourist council under contract with Cache and Rich counties, said a snowmobile map now being developed will be widely distributed in Utah and surrounding states as soon as it's completed."In reality, no one in the Intermountain region can offer better snowmobile access than we do. The number of groomed trails and the hours and hours of continual snowmobile riding on snow just suited for snowmobiling cannot be challenged," he said.
He said since the recent reopening of the Sherwood Hills Resort in Wellsville Canyon, the owners have been gearing part of their marketing to snowmobile touring groups.
"They have been able to schedule several international groups, and Yamaha dealers will be coming there to do their testing," he said.
