A southern Utah man has been charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly displaying obscene materials on the interior walls of his retail T-shirt and record business.
Brent A. Turner, Washington City, is accused of violating St. George city's obscenity ordinance and has been ordered to appear for a Dec. 12 hearing in Circuit Court.City Attorney Ted Shumway said Turner's business is a public place and materials decorating the walls are offensive and illegal.
"It is something that goes beyond obscene. "It is perverted," said Shumway, noting that one of the wall decorations carried the statement "Eat a human fetus."
"It's certainly not a desirable business to have in the city, particularly near a high school," Shumway said.
