Registrations are being taken by Hogle Zoo for a whale-watching trip next March 11-18 in Mexico.

Up to 350 gray whales winter in Mexico's Magdalena Bay and can be observed lolling on the surface, nursing their young or leaping in spectacular breaches that carry them nearly out of the water.Tour members will have opportunity to observe the whales from the decks of The Explorer, a ship large enough for 45 people but small enough to navigate the bay's channels and narrow passages, or for closer looks from small skiffs. Two naturalists will accompany the expedition to provide information on the whales.

Participants will travel by air from Salt Lake City to LaPaz, Mexico, then be transported overland to board the ship. The entire trip costs $1,945. Call the zoo at 582-1631 for a brochure.
