Two women have been appointed to positions in the Community Nursing Service/Hospice of Utah County organization.

Claire Hawkins Averett of Orem has been named new chairman of the advisory committee and Ellen Martin of Sandy the new area supervisor. Averett replaces Tim Eisenhart of Lehi.CNS-Hospice of Utah County is a non-profit organization with headquarters in Orem. It provides special interdisciplinary programs for the terminally ill and their families, including skilled medical, psychological and social support services.

Averett said the hospice "concentrates on controlling the patient's pain and other symptoms while helping the patient and family members cope with the emotional, practical and spiritual concerns that arise from the illness."

Averett, now manager of personnel at WordPerfect in Orem, served for the past two years as senior manager of human resources for CNS-Hospice where she reorganized and expanded the department for the 250-employee home health agency.

Martin, a registered nurse, received an associate degree in nursing from Weber State College in 1976. She has spent the past 12 years working in different facets of nursing while living in Montana, Idaho and Utah.
