A 4-year-old boy was killed Thanksgiving evening when the car his mother was driving slid on ice and struck an oncoming car broadside, injuring his mother and the five passengers in the other vehicle.

The accident occurred about 6 p.m. on U-13 about a mile north of Tremonton.Courtney Gale was pronounced dead at Bear River Valley hospital Thursday evening.

The child's mother, Danette Gale, 34, was listed in serious condition Friday at Mckay Dee Hospital.

Gale was driving south when the car went out of control on the icy road, crossed the road and struck a southbound vehicle driven by James O. Chamberlain, 56, Ogden.

Chamberlain was listed in fair condition at McKay Dee Hospital.

The other injured passengers in the Chamberlain vehicle are: Lucille Chamberlain, 54, Ogden, serious condition at McKay Dee Hospital; Robin Munro, 32, North Ogden, serious condition at McKay Dee Hospital; Jayne Munro, 4, Ogden, critical condition at Primary Children's Medical Center, and Jimmy Proudfit, 4, Ogden, critical condition at Primary Children's Medical Center.

All those injured were originally taken by ambulance to Bear River Valley Hospital. None was wearing a seat belt.
