Marketing students from Bingham and Jordan high schools will try an innovative approach to merchandising Dec. 8-10 at the South Towne Mall.

During the three days, the students will operate a children's shopping store designed for shoppers aged 5 to 12 who want to buy gifts for their parents. While parents remain in a comfortable waiting area, each child is led by his or her own personalized sales assistant - a student - who will guide the child through tables of merchandise, all priced under $10.

The students have obtained items on consignment from stores in the South Towne Mall and will get experience in store layout, display, inventory control, cashiering, advertising, sales and gift wrapping.
