Witnesses and attorneys will appear before an arbitration panel Nov. 28 in Salt Lake City to present arguments concerning a lawsuit against Salina City.

The suit was filed by K & P Plumbing of Salt Lake City, who was contracted to construct a sewer lagoon project. The plaintiff charges that conditions at the site were not the same as represented by the city, requiring additional time to complete the project. The contractor wants more money from the city for the construction. After arguments before the arbitration panel, the site will be inspected by panel members Nov. 30, said Salina City Attorney Michael Jorgensen. A one-day hearing will follow Dec. 1 in Salina.

Jorgensen said a decision is expected to be announced within 30 days following the hearings.

The Environmental Protection Agency, the Farmers Home Administration and the Water Pollution Control Board have all become involved in discussions with attorneys representing the two factions in the suit.
