High winds blew 47 cars of an 89-car Union Pacific train off the track Friday night in rural East Texas, railroad officials said, and two motorists were overcome by fumes from a leaking ammonia tanker.

The motorists were treated at a hospital in Terrell and admitted for observation, but no other injuries were reported, officials said.The National Weather Service reported a tornado and heavy rain in the area about the time of the derailment, which occurred about 7:25 p.m. Friday a half-mile west of Fruitvale, a town about 60 miles east of Dallas.
