Marine biologists force-fed fish and squid Saturday to a 22-foot-long whale rescued from shallow waters where it had been stranded and closely watched the ailing mammal as it swam slowly in a large tank.

The Bryde's whale, a species of Baleen whale, beached on Honeymoon Island off Clearwater early Friday and was pulled free later in the day. It was hauled by truck to Sea World in Orlando, where biologists went to work to save its life.Odell said the whale, dehydrated and with low blood sugar, was listed in guarded condition.
