The superintendent at Golden Spike National Historic site has been named chief of visitor services at Glen Canyon National Recreation area, National Park Service officials have announced.

Denny Davies, superintendent of the northern Utah historic site, near Brigham City, for the past 41/2 years, will become chief of visitor services at Lake Powell effective Dec. 4.The new position requires supervision of law enforcement, interpretive and safety programs for the Lake Powell area in southern Utah.

An acting superintendent for Golden Spike will replace Davies until a permanent appointment is made, officials said.

Davies has worked with the National Park service for 24 years, a park spokesman said. While Davies directed the Golden Spike site, residence facilities for the park ranger were constructed as well as a new underground telephone system.

Davies was also recognized for his public relations efforts for the historic site.
