Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Iran's revolutionary patriarch, reiterated his support for Prime Minister Hussein Musavi two months after Musavi tried to resign.

In a lengthy statement broadcast Thursday on Tehran television, the 87-year-old Khomeini said he had to confirm his support of Musavi because some people might want to "harm your relentless and tireless efforts, especially on the issue of the war.""As before, I regard you as a qualified and sympathetic individual for the Islamic Revolution," Khomeini said. He also asked Musavi to form an organization to care for disabled war veterans.
