Roderick K. Davey has been named general manager of Kenne-inr1cott Utah Copper, according to G. Frank Joklik, president of BP Minerals America, parent company of the copper-producing company.

The general manager's post has been vacant for nearly three years during restructuring of the company and announcement of the modernization plan for the copper operation. The last general manager was C. Kenneth Vance, who later was reassigned to the Chino, N.M., operations.Davey joined the company in 1964 and has held various positions in engineering, systems analysis and design, mine planning and operations and the $400 million modernization project that became fully operational last September. Since 1984 he has been mining manager for Kennecott.

He graduated in 1963 from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in mining engineering and in 1967 earned a master's degree in mining engineering from Michigan Technological University.
