When Santa arrives in Sugar House at 10 a.m. Saturday, he'll find a new Tuff Shed Workshop awaiting him on the Sugarhouse Plaza at Highland Drive and 21st South.
The workshop replaces the old Santa Hut, which was accidentally destroyed when the Hygeia Ice Co. buildings were razed last spring. When Chamber of Commerce directors explained the need for a new house, Tuff Shed manager David Mickelsen agreed to construct a custom-made building at no cost. Finishing touches on the shed, furnished like a real workshop, with tools, paint and toys, were completed by John Walton, Granite Furniture, and Mike Runyan, Salt Lake City Corp.Santa and his helpers will be escorted via fire truck on Saturday to Sugarhouse Park, where the helpers will hand out candy and balloons to children. They will all then visit the workshop for an 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Santa will greet children from 4-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2-6 p.m. Saturdays.
