A Clearfield man, in a plea negotiation with the Davis County attorney's office, pleaded guilty Tuesday in 2nd District Court to two charges of sexual abuse of a child and one count of showing harmful material to a minor.

Frank E. Padilla, 34, 143 W. 650 North, was originally charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, first-degree felonies that carry prison terms of five years to life and minimum mandatory terms of three, six or nine years, and the harmful materials charge, a third-degree felony carrying a prison term of zero to five years.The reduced charges of sexual abuse of a child are second-degree felonies, which carry a prison term of one to 15 years.

Padilla admitted to abusing two girls in October and November of 1987 and again in April and May of 1988 in his Clearfield home, in addition to showing them pornographic material.

Sentencing was set for Jan. 3 by Judge Douglas L Cornaby.
