Eddie Johnson looks surprised that BYU's Chad Robinson can actually trip him up. The Utah running was named the Western Athletic Conference offensive player of the week for his efforts in the Utes' 57-28 upset of the Cougars on Saturday. Johnson, a senior playing in his final college game, rushed for 112 yards and tied a school record with four touchdowns. He also caught passes of 63 and 29 yards and finished seventh on the WAC's all-time career rushing list. Texas-El Paso defensive back Terry Walker was named defensive player of the week. Walker, also a senior, had 31 tackles during UTEP's 31-24 victory over Air Force, including 23 unassisted stops and two tackles for a loss for the Independence Bowl-bound Miners. Among those also nominated for defensive player of the week was Utah defensive back Lavon Edwards.
