A bit of history was made Tuesday night when the newest member of the Kaysville City Council was sworn in.
Kay Hansen, a former planning commission member, was sworn in as an interim city council member to fill out the term of Paul Wagaman, who resigned in September.Hansen joins incumbent Carol Page on the council, making it the first time Kaysville has had two women on the council, said Mayor Gerald Purdy. Page is not the first woman to serve on the council. That honor goes to Ann Buchanan, who served in the 1970s, Purdy said.
But Page, who has filled in for Purdy in his absence as interim mayor, is the first woman to serve as mayor in Kaysville, if only on a temporary basis, Purdy said.
When will Kaysville have its first full-time woman mayor? "That depends," said Purdy.
