Boyd H. Hansen, a Salt Lake builder, was elected president of the Home Builders Association of Utah during the annual meeting in St. George, succeeding Gary B. Leishman.

Hansen is chairman of the Salt Lake County Housing Authority and has been active in the building industry since 1967. He started selling for United Homes in 1967 and became an owner and vice president in 1969.When United Homes was disbanded in 1983, Hansen organized B. H. Construction, specializing in custom homes and light commercial construction.

Glade Nielsen, R-Roy, was named builder of the year by the group, awarded for his contributions to the association, the community and the building industry. He helped organize the association in 1973 and became the first president.

Chosen associate of the year was Eva Nielson Bath, a realtor who is selling new homes for a member builder. This award recognizes a person for service to the association and the building industry.

Named "Spike of the Year" for recruiting the largest number of new members for the association was Gary K. O'Brien of O'Brien Glass, Centerville.
