A Salt Lake woman told police she was raped in her home by a man who threatened to kill her and her baby if she didn't cooperate.

The rapist placed his hand over her mouth and woke the woman about 5:30 a.m., saying, "Thanks for leaving the door open," according to a police report.Holding a knife to her head, he continued, "Don't make a noise or I'll kill the kid," referring to her 6-month-old son asleep in a crib nearby, according to the report.

After the man assaulted her, he made her get into a closet. He then fled the home in the 14th East block of Stratford Avenue (2555 South).

The woman, 31, described the rapist as about 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 160 pounds. He wore gloves, a ski mask, dark-colored shirt and sweat pants, a wind breaker and athletic shoes.
