A bar bouncer was stabbed while trying to break up a fight Wednesday night in a tavern near Pioneer Park, Salt Lake police said.

The victim, bouncer and manager of Ye Olde Towne Tavern, 343 W. Fourth South, was attempting to break up a fight between two patrons when a man slashed at the barkeeper with a knife, the police report said.The victim, who was trying to eject the man when the slashing occurred, was cut twice on the left side of the throat, the report said, but was not seriously wounded.

A 57-year-old North Carolina native was booked into Salt Lake County Jail early Thursday for investigation of aggravated assault.
