A North Salt Lake man was sentenced to up to five years in prison Tuesday in the July 5 death of a Provo motorcyclist in a head-on collision on I-15.

Howard D. Young, 59, 150 Pelin-ore Drive, pleaded guilty to automobile homicide, a third-degree felony, and was sentenced Tuesday in 2nd District Court.Police said Young's car was headed south in the northbound lanes of I-15 when the accident occurred early July 5. Young exceeded the .08 blood-alcohol level for driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Michael J. Noble, 56, the motorcycle driver, died at the scene of the accident, police said.

Judge Douglas L Cornaby said Young has a 15-year history of alcohol-related driving convictions.

He also ordered Young, who carried no insurance, to pay $15,000 restitution to Noble's family.
