Residents on Saturday will sing hymns, pray and listen to wagon train bugle calls to commemorate the arrival of pioneers at the base of Temple Hill on Nov. 19, 1849.
The services will open Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Monument on the north side of Manti.Dr. Tom Carter, Utah State Historical Society preservation architect, will be the featured speaker as the festivities continue at 3 p.m. at the Manti LDS Stake Center. Carter spent 18 months in Sanpete County doing research on the county's pioneer architecture.
A pioneer supper will be served that evening in the tabernacle's cultural hall.
