Texas A&M football coach Jackie Sherrill, in the wake of published reports he paid hush money to a former player, Friday said he will not coach today's game but has no plans to resign.

Sherrill's announcment came on the same day The Dallas Morning News reported in a copyright story that former Texas A&M player George Smith claimed he was paid $4,400 by Sherrill to refrain from telling NCAA investigators about rules violations he knew of in the football program.Sherrill said he would not coach today's game against TCU because of the uproar caused by the allegations.
