Collections and pledges to the annual fund drive of the United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area total 54.7 percent of the $5,031,195 goal.
As of Friday, the drive had collected $2,753,410."We all feel good about having passed the halfway mark," said Ross E. Kendell, president of Key Bank and 1988 campaign chairman. "The most encouraging part is that most final results from companies continue to show excellent increases."
During a campaign meeting Monday at Trolley Square, campaign volunteers will meet to project final drive results as closely as possible.
The largest contribution so far came from US WEST Communications, whose employees gave $229,000, a 10 percent increase over last year.
