Two men who spotted an early morning fire in an apartment complex are being given credit for helping a number of occupants get out safely.
Kurt Taylor and Bret Vano's were driving by the apartment complex at 2800 S. Adams Street about 3:30 Wednesday morning when they noticed the complex was on fire, said South Salt Lake Fire Chief Robert W. Adams. Vano's lives nearby."One drove to a nearby 7 Eleven store to turn in the fire alarm. The other one jumped out and started pounding on doors. We've attributed their help to the fact we had no injuries or deaths," Adams said.
The only injury was sustained by Johnny Bartlett, the occupant of one of the apartments, who fled but was burned when he went back inside to retrieve belongings, Adams said.
