Warner Bros. has announced it will produce "Police Academy 6," next in a series of slapstick comedies, following the almost half-billion dollars earned by the first five films.

This time around a master criminal unleashes a crime wave that threatens an entire city. Paul Maslansky and Don West will produce the fifth sequel, with Peter Bonerz directing.Regular cast members returning to the fray include Bubba Smith, Michael Winslow, David Graf, Marion Ramsey, Leslie Easterbrook and G.W. Bailey.

- HOLLYWOOD (UPI) - Dennis Quaid, riding high with a string of hit movies this year, has begun work in Memphis on "Great Balls of Fire," playing rock 'n' roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis.

Co-starring as Myra Brown, Lewis' 13-year-old bride, is Winona Ryder.

Producer Adam Fields spent eight years putting together the film biography, which includes many characters, including Lewis' cousin, evangelist Jimmy Swaggart.
