Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has been released from Georgetown University Hospital, five days after undergoing surgery for breast cancer.
O'Connor returned to her home in Chevy Chase, Md., and is in good condition, said Supreme Court spokeswoman Toni House.O'Connor, 58, reportedly underwent a mastectomy in which a breast and the lymph nodes under the arm are removed.
No details of the operation have been confirmed. O'Connor said in an earlier statement that the cancer was detected in an early stage and the prognosis is for a full recovery.
She is expected to return to the bench Monday when the court ends a two-week recess.
