A financial package designed to lure a major league baseball franchise to New Orleans will be presented to baseball executives before the end of the year, Gov. Buddy Roemer said Saturday.

Roemer, who has been working with Arkansas and Mississippi on bringing baseball to the Louisiana Superdome, said a presentation would be made at December's winter meeting of major league owners in Atlanta."We'd like to buy an existing franchise," Roemer said during an impromptu news conference. "I'm not telling you there is a long list of franchises up for sale. But from the Seattle Mariners to three or four others, they'd like to move south."
