Trumpeter Al Hirt, who's been plagued by trouble with his playing arm, was released from a Houston hospital Saturday morning ready to to resume performing immediately, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Hirt returned to Methodist Hospital on April 6 to be treated for inflammation of tendons in his right hand and arm, spokeswoman Brenda Blake said.

The inflammation was related to an infection he had in the same hand and arm for which he underwent treatment last month at Methodist.
