The Ballet West Ambassadors have named Deborah S. Bayle chairman for a one-year term. Bayle is vice president of administrative services for the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Serving with her as vice chairmen will be J. Kevin Bischoff of Blue Cross-Blue Shield, public relations; Doreen Maxfield, Crossroads Travel, education; R. Scott Webber, Coldwell Banker, activities; and Steve Yeager, Mountain Fuel Supply, membership.
The Ambassadors are a group of 20 area business and professional people who work to educate the public, particularly business organizations, about Ballet West, and cultivate ongoing support and good will.-AN ANTHEM by Utah composer Rhea Bradford Allen was recently included in a major ecumenical choir festival at Princeton University in New Jersey, supervised by Dr. Eileen Bunderson of the Princeton music faculty. Choirs from seven major denominations sang representative music, and Mrs. Allen's anthem, "I Believe in Christ" was selected along with "Come Come Ye Saints" to represent the LDS faith. She composed her popular setting of the Bruce R. McConkie poem in 1973, at the request of the poet.
-PROVO SOPRANO Andrea Lynn Mitchell is singing Gretel in the San Diego Residency Opera's production of "Hansel and Gretel," in November performances at schools in the San Diego area. The daughter of Michael Mitchell and soprano Debbie Mitchell, Andrea is a frequent performer with Utah Opera. She began her "Hansel and Gretel" experience as a 4-year-old gingerbread child in an Opera West performance and even then assured her parents that she would someday sing Gretel.
