Three people have died in vehicle accidents since Friday in Utah, two in a truck-train crash and one in a two-car accident, officials said.
DEAD:-Aaron A. Silver, 45, West Valley City.
-Jeanne Logan, 34, Layton.
-Jason Hadfield, 17, 174 N. 555 West, Orem.
Logan died when the catering truck she was riding in was struck by a Union Pacific train at 800 N. Angel in Layton. The driver, Silver, died about 14 hours after the 8 a.m. Friday accident at University of Utah Hospital, said a spokesman.
Silver stopped the catering truck he was driving at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks while a southbound train passed, authorities said. Police said witnesses reported the driver of the van drove around the flashing barriers after the southbound train passed and was hit by an approaching northbound train.
Hadfield was killed when he swerved to miss another driver at 1400 S. State in Orem about 8:15 p.m. Friday.
John Wright, 45, Washington, turned left in front of the Hadfield's four-wheel-drive vehicle, investigators said, causing the jeep to swerve, lose control and roll one and a half times. All three occupants were ejected.
Hadfield was dead on arrival at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. His passengers, David B. Griffith, 16, Orem, and Amy Averette, 15, Orem, were treated and released for minor injuries at the same hospital. Wright was uninjured.
