A man claiming to have a gun in his pocket held up a convenience store Friday night but was captured by two bystanders who sat on him.

West Valley Police Sgt. Randy Pond said the 38-year-old Salt Lake man entered the Circle K at 4098 S. Redwood Road about 10:45 p.m. The man said he had a gun and demanded money from the cashier.While she was taking money from the cash register, two customers entered the store. The cashier said, "I'm being robbed," and the two customers jumped on the man and detained him until police arrived and arrested him. The man was booked into Salt Lake County Jail.

Pond said the man had no gun.
