Justice Michael D. Zimmerman of the Utah Supreme Court has been reappointed to the federal Advisory Committee on Civil Rules.

In making the appointment, U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist commended Zimmerman for having served with distinction since 1982.The 13-member Advisory Committee is composed of judges, lawyers and law professors from across the country. Appointed by former Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, Zimmerman was the first state judge to serve on the committee.

Zimmerman, 45, graduated from the University of Utah College of Law in 1969 and served as a law clerk for Burger on the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been a member of the Utah Supreme Court since 1984.

His new term on the advisory committee will expire in October 1991.
