A collision between a catering truck and a freight train Friday left a Layton woman dead and a West Valley man in critical condition.
Jeanne Logan, 34, no address given, died from head injuries suffered in the 8 a.m. accident at 800 N. Angel St., officials said. Aaron A. Silver, 45, was flown by air ambulance to University Hospital where he was in critical condition Saturday night with multiple injuries.Silver, who was driving the catering truck, stopped the vehicle at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks while a southbound train passed, a dispatcher said. A northbound freight train also was approaching the crossing.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck drove around the traffic barriers, which were down and the lights were flashing, to cross the track.
