James E. Kent, 67, a printer at the Newspaper Agency Corp. for 42 years and a member of the board of the Newspaper Employees Credit Union, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 1988, in a local hospital.
Mr. Kent was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Stanley, N.M., to Fred and Mabel Robins Kent and grew up in Santa Fe, N.M., and Duchesne. He married Georgianne Barrett Arnot, Aug. 24, 1963, in Salt Lake City.A Duchesne High School graduate, he began working for the Salt Lake Tribune in 1944 and became an NAC employee in 1952. Active for many years in the leadership of the International Typographer's Union, Mr. Kent retired from the NAC in March 1986.
He enjoyed basketball, golf, bowling and hunting, was a member of the Hi-Utes camping group and attended the Christ United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be Nov. 14, at 2 p.m., in Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 33rd South, and burial will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 S. 23rd East, and at the church one hour before services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr. Kent's name to the Christ United Methodist Memorial Foundation.
