Beginning in January, students in Provo schools will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets when lunch time rolls around.

The Provo Board of Education unanimously approved a 10-cent increase in the price of school lunches at Tuesday's board meeting. Lunch at the elementary schools will be 85 cents, and secondary school lunches will be 95 cents.According to Lynn Smith, district business administrator, the district hasn't increased school lunch prices since January 1982. Next year's increase came after administrators realized it was the only cure for a food services account that has barely been in the black for several years.
