The Bountiful Redevelopment Agency recently gave Five Points Mall a grant that brings the total money it has loaned or given the shopping center to $70,000.

The redevelopment agency board, which also doubles as Bountiful City Council, recently approved giving the mall another $35,000 grant. Redevelopment officials had initially loaned the mall $35,000 to help attract an anchor tenant and make other improvements. The second $35,000 was based on improvements made with the initial loan.

"I think for what it has done it deserves the grant," board member Harold Shafter said.

Mall managers said they need the extra money to help make more improvements in the mall that has experienced loss in revenues and the closure of anchor tenant space. Mall mangers also want the redevelopment agency to consider future funding from tax increment funds. The agency agreed to study future tax increment funding.
