More than two-thirds of Stanford's faculty would like to resurrect the "F" grade for failing students, but an English professor thinks it would have a "terrible psychological impact."

"This is a very, very tricky psychological issue," professor Ronald A. Rebholz told his colleagues at a Friday meeting of the Faculty Senate. "To re-create (the grade of "F") would have a terrible psychological impact on our students," Rebholz said.Stanford dropped the "F" grade 13 years ago, but teachers are talking about reinstating the dreaded failing mark.
