A 71-year-old woman was killed and her husband injured in a two-car accident when he pulled in front of a van at Seventh East and 33rd South, Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies said.

Delores M. Vance, South Salt Lake, was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital following the 10:45 a.m. Thursday accident, deputies said. Vance's husband, Robert, was hospitalized in serious condition with chest injuries.Deputy Larry Marx said the couple was southbound on Seventh East when Robert Vance pulled in front of a northbound van driven by James Webb, 42, Salt Lake City.

Although the van flipped onto its side after being struck, Marx said Webb, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured. Neither of the Vances wore seat belts, the officer said.
