Authorities found the remains of an apparent stowaway in the landing gear of a Boeing 737 after the aircraft had trouble lowering its wheels, officials said Friday.

The chartered Air Europa jet carrying 111 passengers left Hanover, West Germany, on Thursday and landed on this Spanish island in the Mediterranean.Authorities said the aircraft experienced problems with its landing gear during its approach to Son San Joan Airport, forcing it into a holding pattern for two hours.

Once the right side of the landing gear lowered properly, the jet landed without incident, Air Europa said in a statement.
