Britain and Iran resumed full diplomatic relations Thursday, more than a year after they were frozen, the Foreign Office said.

The announcement followed talks in Vienna between Sir David Myers, Britain's assistant under secretary of state for Middle Eastern affairs, and Mahmoud Vaezi, the director general of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Iran and Britain "have decided to resume full diplomatic representation with immediate effect based on reciprocity, mutual respect and non-interference in each others' affairs," said a Foreign Office statement.
