A masked gunman's attempt to steal narcotics from an Albertson Store pharmacy was foiled Tuesday night but the man managed to escape with some items he grabbed from a counter as he fled the store.

Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff Fred Baird said a man entered the store at 3865 S. 23rd East about 8:30 p.m. and jumped across the pharmacy counter. He threatened the pharmacist with a pistol and demanded that the narcotics cabinet be opened. Baird said the pharmacist stalled until the frustrated gunman grabbed some items off a counter and fled. Baird said the gunman also threatened some people in the parking lot as he left the scene.Investigation is continuing, but law officers said they have no leads to the man's identity.
