North Korea is building a 610-room movie theater with more than 3,000 seats as part of the facilities for next year's World Festival of Youth and Students, an official news report said Friday.

The theater in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang is to be completed by the end of November, according to North Korea's official Central News Agency, monitored in Tokyo. It did not give the date of the festival. The cinema's screening halls will have, variously, 2,000 seats, 600 seats, 300 seats, 100 seats and 50 seats, in addition to a translation room and other facilities.

Participants in the quadrennial festival - a political, arts and sports event last held in Moscow in 1985 - include communist and Third World countries.
