The former owner of a used-car business has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to two counts of odometer fraud, and prosecutors agreed to dismiss 12 other charges against him.

Mark White, address listed in court documents as 1375 E. 3010 South, pleaded guilty to charges in an indictment issued Dec. 16, 1987. His company, Executive Motors, was also charged in the same indictment. One of the charges was that he gave a false statement in a federally required disclosure by saying that the odometer reading of a 1985 Dodge van was 40,230 miles, when actually it was listed as 70,955 when he bought it from the Southern California Auto Auction.

The other count charges that he purchased a 1985 Pontiac from Kleen Kut Inc. of Sante Fe Springs, Calif., with an odometer reading of 66,978 miles, but then sold it to a Bountiful man and certified that the mileage was 33,272.

The remaining 12 counts of the indictment will be dismissed when U.S. District Judge David Sam sentences White on Jan. 10.
