Keith Peterson, Salt Lake City, is one of the first five recipients of the Ida M. Green graduate fellowship from Texas Christian University.

Inaugurated this fall, the fellowship program recognizes outstanding doctoralstudents in each of the university's five doctorate-granting departments. Recipients receive full tuition and stipends ranging to $15,000 for their first year of studies.A fellowship recipient in the English department, Peterson earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Brigham Young University and was a member of the BYU-Hawaii campus faculty last year. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Peterson,is married and has three children.

Peterson had already been accepted at the University of Southern California when he learned that Texas Christian had a comparable program. After visiting to interview for the fellowship, Peterson came to prefer the Texas school, even aside from the grant.

"I liked the school because it was smaller, and I felt that I would like Fort Worth better than Los Angeles," he said.
