Convicted killer Eddie E. Sanchez has been ordered to serve all 15 years of a one-to-15-year sentence for the stabbing death of a Salt Lake man.
Sanchez, 36, was convicted last July of manslaughter in connection with an incident Sanchez claims was self-defense. Sanchez told the Board of Pardons he was drinking with the victim's girlfriend when the victim discovered them together and began hitting him with a chain.
Sanchez, who has criminal record spanning almost 20 years and who was on probation at the time, stabbed the man. "My intent was not malicious," he said.
Claiming Sanchez is a clear threat to society, the board ordered Sanchez to serve the maximum time allowed by statute. He will be released from prison on Sept. 5, 2001.
