As long as he is fully able to perform, Joe Montana is the San Francisco 49ers' starting quarterback, and as soon as he is completely well the job is his again, Coach Bill Walsh said.

"Joe will be back, Joe will start. ... I've said that all along," Walsh said on Wednesday. "And I'll keep saying it, although I'm weary of (saying) it."Earlier this week, Walsh became embroiled in controversy when he announced that Steve Young would start Sunday against the Phoenix Cardinals because Montana was not entirely healthy.
