Sonny Bono and his wife, Mary, celebrate his election as mayor of Palm Springs, Calif., Tuesday night at Maxim's Hotel. Bono, 53, easily beat out seven other candidates. The restaurateur rose to fame with ex-wife Cher, singing such songs as "I've Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On." Cher went on to a Hollywood career and on Monday won the best actress Oscar for her role in "Moonstruck." Bono and his fourth wife, Mary, 26, are expecting their first child this week. In coastal Carmel, where actor Clint Eastwood decided against a second, two-year term as mayor, voters elected community activist Jean Grace to succeed him.
