Jim McMahon's injured right knee is not as bad as first feared and the Chicago Bears quarterback may be back in action in four or five weeks, team officials said.

"There was no swelling and no fluid (in the knee)," Bears trainer Fred Caito said Tuesday after McMahon was examined by team doctor Clarence Fossier. "He (McMahon) will be fitted for a special brace to limit his motion, but Dr. Fossier is very pleased."Originally it was feared McMahon would be out for the rest of the season, but the prognosis has improved.
