Phoenix Aviation Inc., a manufacturer of light aircraft for private, agricultural and defense use, has acquired Mountain States Aviation of Logan to manufacture all models of the Phoenix aircraft.
Garwood H. Walton, Mountain States president, said the company has become a majority-owned subsidiary of Phoenix Aviation. "This move will accelerate expansion plans that were in the works at Mountain States," said Walton. It also will be an economic boon to Cache County since he expects employment to reach between 300 and 500 people within five years.Paul McShane, Phoenix Aviation president, said, "The decision to acquire Mountain States and move all of the manufacturing to Logan was based on the vast amount of technological support available from Utah State University and the community, Mountain States Aviation's established connections with USU and the enthusiasm by the Utah Department of Community and Economic Development."
McShane said neither company is looking for government funds.
